Nicolas Lippolis is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Columbia Climate School, as well as a nonresident scholar in the Africa Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. His research examines the global and domestic politics of industrialization, and currently focuses on understanding how countries in Africa and Latin America can navigate a decarbonizing global economy to diversify away from oil and gas.
Nicolas obtained his doctorate (DPhil) in Politics from the University of Oxford. Prior to the doctorate, Nicolas earned an MSc in Economics for Development and a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, both from the University of Oxford. He has taught at Oxford, Sciences Po Paris, and the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. He has also consulted with the World Bank, and previously worked in emerging markets macroeconomic research at Goldman Sachs in London. Nicolas is a native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
